That said, there are too many that have either forgotten, abandoned, or intentionally ignored the necessity of limited government. I've come to realize that our constitution, as venerated and ideal as it is, only works when it's followed. We're pushing twenty years or more in which the Constitution is an inconvenience if it is adhered to at all by our "elected" "public servants".
I was enamored with The TEA Party. A true, grass roots movement of those recognizing just how perilous our Republic had become. That movement was murdered by the Fourth Estate, Democrats, sorry, redundant I know, and not a few Republicans. Don't call them RINO's, they are the majority of modern, establishment Republicans. The weaponization of the IRS and DOJ against political rivals marked our entry into banana republic territory which has only grown worse these last several years. Russia, Russia, Russia as sung by the DOJ, FBI, and every Democrat in Congress, and again, not a few Republicans, only cemented our status as deeply unserious people.
I turned next to the Article V Convention of States movement, and while painfully slow, it has trudged on, gaining support little by little. But my inkling is as soon as the Swamp sees it as a threat to the status quo, any and all involved will suffer the same fate as selfie taking citizens who now languish as political prisoners. FBI, DHS, ATF, and armed IRS agents will be engaging in zero dark thirty raids on those who only wish to see our nation preserved and restored.
Harkening back to those that want to burn it down and start over, I vacillate between caution and volunteering five gallons of gas and a book of matches. My secret wish is the next time federal law enforcement swoops down on those with the temerity to oppose Progressives, we see something akin to the Bundy Ranch standoff in Clark County Nevada when BLM found themselves surrounded by those that have had enough. I hate to say it, but that's likely what it will take to get the fed's attention. Sadly, it could spark another civil conflict that would make the one of 1860-64 look like kindergarten recess.
In my most despairing moments, I suggest to those that think I'm kidding, we take a page from Vince Flynn's "Term Limits", only overdose it with steroids. Take everyone that's made a career out of fleecing this nation and its people, line them up on the steps of the capital and hose them all down with good 'ol Ma Deuce. Leave them where they fall, hire new ones and make them step over the rotting remains of those they replaced. It sounds harsh, but it would save countless lives should we fall off the edge of the precipice we currently find ourselves balancing on.
10th Amendment, but it only works if the Constitution is followed. Right now it's not. The CoS has potential, but many who openly oppose it call term limits unnecessary. Just vote them out they say. Well, we've seen how well that works. Fiscal sanity is another item that a CoS can address because those attached to the status quo won't. Making any new legislation contingent on repealing or negating old, outdated, or redundant legislation, mandating single item bills. No more riders, addenda, or 20,000 page pieces of legislation. Plain English, single issue, limited to no more than 10 pages to satisfy the legalese. This could also be tied to term limits. A Senator or Representative will not be eligible to even run for a second term contingent on there performance in the first term of nullifying, the old outdated, say 5 before they can introduce anything new and also requiring budget cuts to reach a predetermined benchmark required to be met before seeking a second and final term.
