Biden on Guns
The Radical Regime
What was meant to sound at nearly all (coherent) points as a moderate speech was, in fact, among the most radical rambling anti-gun, anti-liberty agendas put forward by any American executive ever.
“Rights aren’t absolute” was the initial line delivered to set the stage for tonight’s speech. That is, however, incorrect any way you slice it. Rights are absolute when placed in their proper context. The right to free speech secures all speech. You might say, “it doesn’t protect slander,” and that’s because slander isn’t speech at all – it’s an injury to another party. This same effect applies to the second amendment: you can own firearms, but you do not have license to hurt anybody with them outside of narrow confines of a justified act. Rights are absolute.
Biden called for a “repeal” of manufacturer liability protections. This is both a lie by omission, and extremely radical. There are no special liability protections for firearms manufacturers. Just like if a car has a sticky gas pedal and somebody gets hurt in a crash, so, too, would a firearms manufacturer be liable for a trigger malfunction that resulted in an accidental discharge and injury. No, the “immunity” Biden is asking be “repealed” is simply case law that protects all manufacturers from frivolous lawsuits. Biden wants gunmakers subject to the automotive equivalent of a vehicle driven by a drunkard hitting somebody, and the carmaker being liable. That is a radical proposal that would, in short order, bankrupt every gunmaker in America, and, effectively, outlaw the manufacture of firearms.
Delayed background checks were another item brought up. Current law says a background check delayed beyond three days can proceed with transfer. Here’s the catch, if he gets what he wants here – a change in the law saying a transfer cannot occur before the check is complete – and he also controls the agency doing the background checks (the FBI), he can simply clear out the office that is responsible and permanently delay all background checks. This is exactly what he is aiming for, and they’ve spelled out this strategy before.
High-capacity magazines was the next item on the chopping block. Except, he specifically referenced standard capacity magazines when talking about implementing bans – standard for an AR15 being a 30-round magazine. In any case the answer, as ever, is “NO.” The government doesn’t get to decide how many bullets I need when four armed men kick in my door in the middle of the night looking to do me harm. This is also an insanely impractical idea: there’s tens-to-hundreds of millions of these magazines in circulation, and you can 3D print new ones.
Assault weapon bans were again brought up as being the ideal, though Biden seemed to realize that they are a bridge to far even as an ask. Good. “Assault weapon” is a stupid, made-up term with no settled definition, and every person in America has the right to own and bear weapons of war in order to do their duty as a citizen. That’s what the second amendment is for: the decentralization of the means of warfare such that a populace of moderately trained persons could affect military-scale violence on short notice.
The next ask was to raise the age to buy long guns to 21. Again, no. The age of majority is what it is, and it’s something abominable that handguns are not currently available at the age of majority. The young have a long, proud history of fighting for America, and any suggestion of a need to disarm them speaks only to our cultural rot, and not to the nature of their duty as Americans.
Perhaps the most radical of his proposals was to hold gun owners accountable for crimes committed with weapons that were stolen from them. Can you imagine this with any other item? The jihadist that rents a U-Haul to run down a crowd of easter worshippers, and the guy behind the counter gets charged with terrorism, convicted, and is executed? Of course it’s absurd. Everything here is absurd given the fact that our government has trod on that bright line of tyranny for several years now, yet it thinks it’s still in a position to demand we surrender arms.
Finally, and perhaps most awfully, as Biden stood politicking on tiny graves, he snuck in a piece about bringing more “mental health” services into schools. Of course, this means Social Emotional Learning, which is a criminal effort to utilize psychological warfare against children to destabilize and indoctrinate them into leftist politics, sexual debauchery, and hatred of traditional Americanism.
This should be a nonstarter for any GOP rep in government. The only proper response is to offer a counter proposal: full repeal of the National Firearms Act, the Gun Free School Zones Act, and an apology for grossly painting his political opponents as complicit. Biden is evil, a traitor to this nation, and this regime is a tyranny. Treat them like it.
