In this edition we will take a prism to the light on the issue of the document “National Strategy For Countering Domestic Terrorism,” released by the regime this past week, and turning the vast apparatus of counter-terrorism inward unto Americans. Here we will diverge slightly from the realm of the abstract to that of the practical, pragmatic, and, where I dare, to the speculatory. I take this slightly unusual detour from deeper philosophy as a response to the unusual nature of this document, and indeed the times we are in. Credit to one Stephen Coughlin of Unconstrained Analytics for pointing out at length that the left often telegraphs their moves prior to their undertaking them. It is with that in mind that we look to the document, decode its language, and project forward to what this means for our future.
The importance of this document cannot be overstated. This document, read properly, is a written plan of attack against domestic political opponents in which we will be systematically isolated, investigated, harassed, cutoff from the services necessary for day-to-day living, and, ultimately, jailed by the regime. This is undertaken with the explicit participation of private entities in what, once instituted, will represent an unprecedented-in-American history aggression against a peaceful citizenry. Let us dig in.
The first item to understand about this document is that it repeatedly, and then once more assures us that it will undertake the coming measures free of bias, and in a politically “agnostic” manner. In fact, they say this so many times that the only possible conclusion is that they want you to believe it by dint of repetition alone, and furthermore in an overarching manner that applies to all things regime. It is a lie of the highest order.
Every mention of Domestic Violent Extremist (DVE) of the ethnically concerned variety is linked explicitly to the overwhelming, and singularly existential threat of white identity extremists. This is no accident. This is the regime telegraphing that the law of Repressive Tolerance applies. Right wing movements (as they inevitable lead to fascism) must be repressed at all costs – even with violence; while left wing movements (because they invariably advance History [capitalized advisedly] towards Utopia) must be tolerated, and advanced at all costs to include violence (see Herbert Marcuse, “Repressive Tolerance”).
It is also no coincidence that through the mechanisms of political warfare re: Critical Race Theory that the concept of “Whiteness” has been introduced into the lexicon of Americans as an elusive mechanism that overwhelmingly, and inexorably attaches to white Americans, though can also be attached to others as necessary (Asian Americans must be discriminated against for outperforming the mean, and are therefore possessing “Whiteness,” and even black Americans not acting “authentically black” can be said to possess “Whiteness” through a “false consciousness.”) Therefore, white identity extremists of all stipes can be said to exists, but importantly all white people are eligible for smearing as white identity extremists as a matter of possessing the socio-political-genetic trait of “Whiteness.” This smear then lends to characterizing potentially any white person as immutably terroristic.
Let us examine some of the provisions that will dismantle the First Amendment as we know it. This document states:
“Today’s digital age requires an American population that can utilize essential aspects of Internet–based communications platforms while avoiding vulnerability to domestic terrorist recruitment and other harmful content deliberately disseminated by malicious actors online… Consequently, we will pursue innovative ways to foster and cultivate digital literacy and related programs, including educational materials and interactive online resources such as skills–enhancing online games.”
and,
“The widespread availability of domestic terrorist recruitment material online is a national security threat whose front lines are overwhelmingly private– sector online platforms, and we are committed to informing more effectively the escalating efforts by those platforms to secure those front lines.”
It is therefore clear that the regime has already determined that there are parts of the internet that are, and are not “essential,” that some portions of communications platforms are nonessential, and that nonessential portions are not protected categories for use by American citizens. Further, it notes that our government will seek to limit access to what is certainly properly protected speech overly critical of itself, and it will use platforms to remove such content. The world “platform” here is an important legal distinction, as it implies public access and posting on an open forum. Also of note is an admission that the government will produce official propaganda targeting children with explicitly ideological messaging.
It goes on:
“We will do all of this in a global, multi-stakeholder setting in which we can collaborate on addressing terrorist content online with partner governments similarly committed to freedom of expression as well as with technology companies and civil society organizations”
and,
“…the United States endorses the Christchurch Call to Action to Eliminate Terrorist and Violent Extremist Content Online. We applaud language in the Christchurch Call emphasizing the importance of tackling the very real threat posed by online terrorist content”
As the document frequently switches between the terms “extremist,” and “terrorist,” and further that “extremist” (elsewhere in the document) is left largely to NGOs to define, it is fair to say that it is the regimes plan to engage with foreign governments, private tech companies, and various NGOs to designate US persons as enemies, and remove their protected speech from the internet. Further, the Christchurch Call is a treaty item entered into on the assent of only the unitary, tripartite executive in direct violation of the Constitution, and further endorses governments worldwide in moderation of internet content.
The document then states:
“This is a project that should unite all Americans. Together we must affirm that domestic terrorism has no place in our society. We must work to root out the hatreds that can too often drive violence.”
This particular phrase may confuse the uninitiated, as obviously this entire undertaking is designed to divide, and not unite Americans, but it actually serves two purposes. First, the utterly detached from reality assertion works to demoralize us as the opposition. Second, and more importantly, it serves as a dialectical negation of the very concept of “American,” and suggests a new paradigm in which only those loyal to the regime, and of sufficiently revolutionary consciousness, are now the only true Americans. This is surely yet another early indicator of impending regime efforts to paint the right as fundamentally un-American, and therefore not protected by Constitutional considerations.
The document over and over again refers to our country as not just a democracy, but “our democracy.” This is a continuation of a long-running dialectical attack on the republican, and even more so the Constitutional nature of American government. The Democrats call for “democracy” fall into a classic motte-and-bailey logical fallacy whereby they assert the more extreme, initiate definition of democracy (bailey): most commonly a pure democracy of absolute majority rule (aka mobocracy wherein your fundamental rights are up for a vote) (sometimes the even more extreme Marxist concept of perfect democracy after entry into the communist utopia), but when significantly challenged on their extreme assertion will retreat to their “motte” of the unobtrusive definition of democracy in the representative, constitutional form. It is also a new way of framing this dialectical line of attack with even more specificity as it differentiates between ours and theirs, thereby framing those not of the Democratic persuasion as not of this political entity, as if a virus infecting their democracy that must be neutralized.
America may be the most intrinsically resistant-to-tyranny form of governance in the world due to our second amendment protections. It is not the “keep and bear” part to which I refer. I am talking about the “Militia, being necessary to the security of a free state” bit. There is no Rambo, no Ryan, and nobody with a “certain set of skills” taking on this leviathan by their lonesome. It is the inherent right of all Americans to self-militia (see the wonderful article A Theory of the Militia): to undertake the training, equipping, and organizing necessary to effect imminent violence on a military scale should the need arise. This right is derived from the natural right of self-preservation, and to freedom from the imposition of arbitrary power. As Locke wrote:
“The state of war is a state of enmity and destruction; and therefore declaring by word or action, not a passionate and hasty, but sedate, settled design upon another man's life puts him in a state of war with him against whom he has declared such an intention, and so has exposed his life to the other's power to be taken away by him, or any one that joins with him in his defence, and espouses his quarrel; it being reasonable and just I should have a right to destroy that which threatens me with destruction; for by the fundamental law of Nature, man being to be preserved as much as possible, when all cannot be preserved, the safety of the innocent is to be preferred, and one may destroy a man who makes war upon him… And hence it is that he who attempts to get another man into his absolute power does thereby put himself into a state of war with him; it being to be understood as a declaration of a design upon his life. For I have reason to conclude that he who would get me into his power without my consent would use me as he pleased when he had got me there, and destroy me too when he had a fancy to it…”
It is in this “right reason” that we find the fundamental logic of the decentralization of the means of warfare, and indeed it is the only conceivable check on government that might give rise to a perpetual state of relative liberty. In America, the oft confused “monopoly on violence” ceded to government is done voluntarily, unlike in most European countries, and purely as a considered philosophical submission representing the “consent of the governed.” In other words, we continuously choose to not enact war upon our government despite retaining the means to do so with the full knowledge – both on our part and the governments – that one day we might wake up and choose violence. It is for this reason that the following from the document stands out:
“…how to make better use of laws that already exist in all fifty states prohibiting certain private “militia” activity, including state constitutional provisions requiring the subordination of the military to civil authorities, state statutes prohibiting groups of people from organizing as private military units without the authorization of the state government, and state statutes that criminalize certain paramilitary activity.”
This passage represents a planned attack on the most fundamental self-determination mechanism in our Constitution, and if read broadly enough would work to criminalize everything from named militia movements to neighborhood watch groups. Coupled with the documents insistence that getting guns out of the hands of Americans is essential to tackling the “DVE” threat it should be read as a total abolition of the second amendment right, and an artificial repeal of mans natural right to self defense against all actors: individual, corporate, and state.
On the topic of justification for this utterly insane undertaking the document states:
“The Intelligence Community (IC) assesses that domestic violent extremists (DVEs)… pose an elevated threat to the Homeland in 2021... Newer sociopolitical developments–such as narratives of fraud in the recent general election, the emboldening impact of the violent breach of the U.S. Capitol, conditions related to the COVID–19 pandemic, and conspiracy theories promoting violence–will almost certainly spur some DVEs to try to engage in violence this year...”
and,
“The IC assesses that several factors could increase the likelihood or lethality of DVE attacks in 2021 and beyond, including escalating support from persons in the United States or abroad, growing perceptions of government overreach related to legal or policy changes and disruptions, and high–profile attacks spurring follow–on attacks and innovations in targeting and attack tactics.”
Now, if our friend Stephen Coughlin is right in that the left telegraphs their intentions (hint: he is) these paragraphs can only be taken as an admission that the regime intends to pursue such an aggressively radical course of revolutionary policy that itwill tend to radicalize Americans to violence, and those radicalized are preemptively labeled as terrorists. Coupled with the repeated refrain that there is never a circumstance in a “democratic” society that justifies violence and we have here a rounded-out recipe for a cycle of trampling Americans rights, and then jailing those who take umbrage. This is fundamentally, and diametrically opposed to our founding values. Those that doubt are invited to reread the Declaration of Independence, or to take a look at the Constitution of my home state of New Hampshire – specifically article ten of the Bill of Rights commonly referred to as the “right to revolution.”
It goes on:
“We are working to augment the screening process for those who join the military and Federal law enforcement as well as any government employee who receives a security clearance or holds a position of trust by considering changes to the Standard Form (SF)–85, SF–85P, and SF–86 Federal employee background questionnaires, along with applicable military screening questionnaires.”
Separately in background call notes,
“The administration… toughening the federal governments screening methods to better identify employees who may pose insider threats. They are looking to share those techniques with private companies.”
In other words the United States government will be purged off all dissidents beginning with the military, then the DoD and other security clearance holders, then, according to the background call notes, these discrimination tools for denial of employment will be rolled out to the private sector. That’s right, if you are an enemy of the regime you will be denied both public, and private sector employment. Elsewhere in the background call notes the regime states it will use executive authority to place suspected extemists on the “no-fly” list, and instruct the FBI to deny background checks for firearms purchases despite having no criminal history.
On addressing the breadth of resources the federal government intends to bring to bear the phrase “whole of government” doesn’t even begin to describe it:
“We will also build a community to address domestic terrorism that extends not only across the Federal Government but also to critical partners. That includes state, local, tribal, and territorial governments, as well as foreign allies and partners, civil society, the technology sector, academia, and more. Domestic terrorism and the factors that contribute to it pose a challenge best tackled by a set of interlocking communities that can contribute information, expertise, analysis, and more to addressing this multifaceted threat. With the right orientation and partnerships, the Federal Government can energize, connect, and empower those communities – communities whose input was critical to the formulation of this Strategy itself”
This is the American government doing its damnest to make an Italian dead-and-buried 76 years blush. Benito Mussolini is quoted, “Fascism should more appropriately be called Corporatism because it is a merger of state and corporate power.” With the government now indistinguishable from corporations in the wielding of powers never before has a truer-to-definition fascistic state existed. The government will wield social media to constantly monitor in real time the behavior of all Americans while big tech analyses this traffic based on criteria selected by leftist NGO’s and Universities (this is already underway for members of the military per background call notes) for punitive actions by the tech, financial, and transportation sectors, and prosecution by new ideological hires at the Department of (social) Justice. All that’s left is for Waste Management Corp. to take over the prisons and sell the remains to Kraft Foods Inc. and the circle will be complete.
Taken in its entirety this document is a formal declaration of the war the regime has been waging on Americans since Bidens inauguration – though years longer if you count the actions of the entrenched bureaucracy that seems to run the show. Evidence demonstrates that the federally elected members of the GOP don’t have the spine to stop this. We desperately need states to rise up against these actions by the regime, and persistently agitate on behalf of American citizens to take some of the heat off. States are fully legitimate, sovereign political entities with heaps of moral authority banked for exactly this sort of situation. They have the capacity, and the mass to occupy enough of the federal government to stymie this war declaration, and to tip the scales if that should ever become necessary, and warranted, to at least facilitate negotiations on a level(ish) playing field in the hopes of a peaceful solution towards whatever comes next.
After paying attention to the left for 15 years, I have no doubt that your interpretation of this document is accurate. It is what I predicted would happen if Biden won. Despite my best hopes that he would rise to be at least a half decent leader, he couldn't be doing much worse of a job. I doubt he is even in control. It doesn't matter though, the end result is the same. American patriots have targets on their backs and we are now in the first stages of an authoritarian regime. They have everything set in place: a brainwashing pipeline for kids that we call "academia", a corporate media that is compromised from the top down, an ideological military/intelligence apparatus, and a big tech surveillance machine that Stalin would have killed for.
We need to get new blood in the Republican Congress.
Keep writing and I will keep reading.
